Hobble Mountains East & West Peaks,
Buck Mountain & Sheep Hill

September 10, 2021

The two Hobble Mountains: the west peak (left) is the highest, the east peak just 40 feet lower. The yellow flowers would be a major theme today. I took this image after I hiked the peaks as I was driving out

East Hobble Mountain, still in the dawn hours

West Hobble as viewed from just below East Hobble's summit

Summit of West Hobble. Note the small cairn. I liked the dead tree and its ominous branching patterns

Now onto Buck Mountain. The highpoint is to the right

Lower slopes of Buck Mountain

Approaching the cliffs near the top

North view of the cliffs from the top

South view from the top and the small cairn

The Hobbles as seen from Buck Mountain

Sheep Hill

Buck Mountain from a different angle

Sheep Hill and yellow flowers

View east from the top of Sheep Hill. That's Potato Butte, with Red Mountain and Slate Mountain farther back

The Hobbles from Sheep Hill

Buck from Sheep

My car is visible down below as I descend Sheep. Note the yellow swath. Must be millions of flowers. That's Red Hill Lookout behind

Montage: the four hills I climbed today as viewed at dawn from the east; East Hobble into the rising sun; summit of Sheep Hill; My yellow boots
