Excerpts from Zander Hollander Complete Hockey Handbook, 1975-76 (by Reyn Davis)

Left the employ of Chicago Black Hawks' Dallas franchise to become the third man to stand behind the Jets bench... The dynamic Kromm spent eight years in Dallas, ostensibly within the wings, waiting for a promised job in Chicago — Billy Reay's... Bobby Hull led the campaign to get Kromm, a summertime resident of Trail, British Columbia... Hull new of his work with the Black Hawks... Coached Canada to its last world hockey championship, in 1961, guiding the Trail Smoke Eaters to the title... Took the team back a year later, but lost to comrade Anatoly Tarasov, a good friend of Kromm... He succeeds Nick Mickoski, the first man to stand behind the Jets bench, and Rudy Pilous, the second and last man to do the job... Now Pilous is the general manager... Kromm took his Dallas team on a swing through the Western Hockey League one time and riots occurred each of the first four nights... Witnesses said they all started near the Dallas bench.
