• Uncle of Rick Adduono.

Excerpts from Zander Hollander's Guide to Pro Hockey, 1975-76 (by Reyn Davis)

Fought off stigma of being too small and too slow and won work in San Diego... Didn't grow or get any faster, but proved his worth in Major League hockey... Needs to work extra hard all the time to hold his own... Set Eastern League scoring records for assists, 122, and points, 170... For four years, he was professional hockey's highest scorer with the Syracuse Blazers... Nickname is "Doughnut"... Was player coach of Syracuse during part of 1967-68 campaign, Syracuse team captain in 1972-73.

Excerpts from Pro Hockey, WHA 1976-77 (by Dan Proudfoot)

Ron Ingram, the Mariner manager-coach, spent his apprenticeship at Syracuse, N.Y., operating the minor league team there. But he had at least one chore at San Diego that was exactly the same as at Syracuse: he had to convince Ray Adduono that he could be a goal-scorer.

"For five years I've been after Ray to shoot the puck more," says Ingram. Finally, in 1975-76, Adduono began to respond, and the result was that he stood second in team scoring, with 90 points. "Ray can do it all," his coach explains, "it's just that he never was given any encouragement."
