Excerpts from Pro Hockey, WHA 1975-76 (by Dan Proudfoot)
Time is running out, Don Blackburn knows it. His boss keeps telling him that he's looking for a younger man to replace him, but Blackburn is stubborn.
After years of bouncing around the minor leagues, he has no intention of giving in quietly just because he's 37. Last season he averaged a point a game in 50 appearances. "We made it tough for him," says Whaler manager-coach Jack Kelley, "We used a lot of kids in his place. I've told him it will be the same this season. We have to develop the kids. But he's a smart old cougar. I can't rule him out."
