Excerpts from Zander Hollander Complete Hockey Handbook, 1975-76 (by Reyn Davis)
A cheerful sort off the ice, but hockey's most penalized goaltender on it ... Owns penalty records in both major leagues — 60 minutes in the NHL with Pittsburgh in 1973-74, and 75 in the WHA with Indianapolis in 1974-75 ... Last of the maskless goaltenders ... Rapidly loses patience with those who shoot around his ears ... Racers' only player earning six figures ... Fans' choice as the club's most valuable and most popular player in Indianapolis ... Lives dangerously in the summer, too, driving sprint cars ... Has walked away from a couple of crashes ... Andy's father, the late Adam Brown, earned an assist on Gordie Howe's first NHL goal in 1947 in Detroit.

Excerpts from Pro Hockey, WHA 1976-77 (by Dan Proudfoot)
The last of the bare-faced goalies disappeared from the hockey scene in 1975-76 after suffering a back injury. Brown, at 32, has years left yet. And when he's hot, he's almost impossible to beat. But like the Racers' other experienced goaltender, Leif Holmqvist, 34, he faces serious competition from Dion and Park for starting assignments.
