David Boosts Nords' Power (excerpt) no byline The Hockey News December 15, 1978
Even though the Montreal Canadiens drafted Richard David, the six-foot-two, 205-pound left winger of the Trois Rivieres Draveurs, top team in the Quebec Major Junior League, there was little question that the native of Notre Dame de la Sallette, Quebec, would be playing with the Quebec Nordiques.
That's because the Nordiques locked up David as quickly as possible with a five-year contract for several hundred thousand dollars.
Two outstanding years with the Draveurs served to capture the Nordiques' attention for David. He totalled 52 goals and 58 assists and 50 goals and 61 assists his final two years in junior and looked ready made to fit into the Nordiques' already impressive offensive arsenal.
David, along with Danny Geoffrion, another draft choice of Montreal, have been brought along slowly by the Nordiques, but most people agree that they are can't miss products who will become major attractions for the Nordiques.
