When the Birmingham Bulls dug into the Canadian underage junior hockey market they acted with the hope the youngsters would adjust overnight to professional hockey. One of their selections was Michel Goulet, a strapping right winger from the Quebec Nordiques. The Bulls have been more than pleased with Goulet's progress. In fact, he is exactly what the Birmingham club was hoping for when they lured the kids away fram the Canadian major teams before their draft year. Goulet has scored only five times in the club's first 22 games, but he has chipped in with 12 assists making him the fourth highest scorer on the club behind two other underage hopefuls, Louis Sleigher and Gaston Gingras. At 6-foot, 1-inch and 195 pounds, Goulet is a potential future star in pro hockey. He had an auspicious 73 goals and 135 points in 72 games last season with Quebec and the Bulls are keeping their fingers crossed that he'll turn some of that production their way this season, They could use it. |
