Excerpts from Zander Hollander Complete Hockey Handbook, 1976-77 (by Reyn Davis)
An illusion it seems ... Frequently appears to be doing nothing, going nowhere, suddenly he scores or sets up a goal ... Came out of minors to fire 47 goals including seven game winners and 12 on the power play ... Complements Robbie Ftorek and John Gray perfectly ... A veritable hush he's so quiet ... Nickname is "Smoothie" ... Spent only 10 minutes in penalties while his linemates were gone for 245 — Ftorek with 109, Gray 136 ... Good water skier ... Superb rebounder and deflector.

Excerpts from Pro Hockey, WHA 1976-77 (by Dan Proudfoot)
It's doubtful that even the Roadrunners' management anticipated the production that resulted from an unusual WHA-NHL trade in the summer of 1975. Phoenix got Del Hall and Ron Huston in exchange for the rights to youngster Gary Holt, and the direct result was 69 goals. Hall, with his accurate shot, notched 47 goals, seventh-highest total in the WHA.
Of course, Roadrunners weren't as surprised as their opponents, The Roadrunners had inside information because Al Rollins [Coach/G.M.] ran the Salt Lake City entry in the Western Hockey League, where both Hall and Huston had served their apprenticeships.
