Regular Season & Playoff Scoring Record (key)

Undisputably, Mr. Oiler ... Harrison should develop into one of the finest players in any hockey league ... Picked up on great promise he showed with Toronto in 19-goal year in 1971-72, he got 39 goals, 48 assists for Alberta in 65 games in 1972-73 ... Played junior hockey in Estevan ... Drafted by Boston, he played half a season in Oklahoma City before joining the Bruins ... He was traded to the Leafs and had 33 points for Toronto in 1970-71.

Obtained from Cleveland by Edmonton in one-on-one trade for Ron "Bucky" Buchanan ... Had problems in Edmonton as he attempted to have his contract renegotiated ... Had back surgery that curtailed his effectiveness for almost a year ... Seemed to have fully recovered when he broke this thumb in a fight last season ... Has the ability to beat a team in two ways --- by physically intimidating its players to the point of not caring, or by simply outscoring them ... Fired five game-winners for Cleveland ... Owns a fly-in fishing and hunting lodge 300 miles north of Edmonton

Jim Harrison likes wide-open spaces. His hunting lodge 300 miles north of Edmonton is closer to the Arctic than the home rinks of some of the Finnish players Phoenix and Winnipeg import, because Harrison likes the hunting and fishing where nobody's around to bother him.
It's the same in the hockey arenas, where the burly Harrison insists on claiming territory for his own. He does this by hurtling into opponents. It's called fore-checking but he performs it much more physically than most, intimidating many opposing players.
The 29-year-old Harrison gets a lot of goals this way, 34 in 1975-76, and sets up a lot of scoring plays for linemates, too. One night against the old New York Raiders, he earned 10 points with his tactics.
