Bruce Landon's 1975-76 campaign ended with the pain of torn knee ligaments, but at least he can look back on the year with some enthusiasm.
Landon, 27, finally got to show his stuff as a goaltender, playing in 38 regular season games which was the most he'd appeared in since 1969-70.
"And he was terrific in the playoffs," says coach Harry Neale. "In the third game against Cleveland, he won it, he was the difference. Then in the first game of the next series he injured his knee, or he might have just kept going."
With Landon out, and Whalers' other experienced starter, Christer Abrahamsson, already on the sidelines, the job went to Cap Raeder. But, that's another story.
