Excerpts from Pro Hockey, WHA 1976-77 (by Dan Proudfoot)

The 1975-76 season won't be one that Norm Lapointe remembers with affection. But goaltenders' rookie campaigns seldom are as impressive as their amateur qualifications, and Lapoint was no different.

The most valuable player in the Quebec Junior league of 1974-75 had a miserable goals-against average of 5.15 in his 12 starts with the Stingers.

"It's a difficult transition," offers Jerry Rafter. "But he's a goaltender of the future — it's up to him when." Meanwhile, another rookie goalie, John Kiely, played in 22 games and produced a 4.31 average and 27-year-old Paul Hoganson carried the load, playing in 50 games for an average of 3.69.
