Jets want Perry Miller to take care of any opponents who decide to bruise the Winnipeg scorers into submission. Miller's 1973-74 record reflects his role: only 28 points, but 133 penalty minutes. Because the Winnipeg-born 23-year-old relishes his work, team management is content to wait for him to develop all the finer skills. Meantime, his social manners are impeccably bad. "You make a stew," says hockey manager Rudy Pilous, "you need all kinds of ingredients, a little pepper to go with the salt. With guys like Miller and Lesuk our stew is going to taste fine."
