Jim Park: Interview

Excerpts from Pro Hockey, WHA 1976-77 (by Dan Proudfoot)

From the crowd 24-year-old Jim Park emerged as a playoff star. Park shut out the New England Whalers twice as the Racers came from behind to force the U.S. quarterfinal to a full seven games.

Park's goals-against average in six appearances was 2.45, an excellent figure for playoff competition. Park played several years in the minor leagues and was never considered to have major league potential, but he's likely to have a brilliant future now. He practises transcendental meditation, which may explain his tranquility in goal. His coach, however, feels his success may have more to do with his being a leftie, urprising the shooters.
