Ron Plumb
Ronald William Plumb
Height: 5-10

Regular Season & Playoff Scoring Record (key)
Winner, Dennis Murphy Trophy (Best Defenseman), 1976-77.
Boston Bruins made Ron Plumb one of their first round draft choices in 1970. The National Hockey League had all of Canada's juniors to itself back then, and only eight were chosen before Plumb.
Competition for positions on the Boston blueline was difficult, though, with Bobby Orr and company filling the spots, and Plumb ended up in the minor leagues for 1970-71 and 1971-72. Naturally, he was ready to turn to the WHA when it came along in 1972.
"Bruins wanted him back very badly," says Stinger coach Terry Slater, chuckling in victory. "Harry Sinden phoned Plumb's agent, Bob Woolf, only half an hour after we signed him in 1974. We had him playing out in San Diego last winter."

Dimpled cheeks and well-scrubbed good looks rarely found among defensemen in professional hockey ... Has always been denied the recognition he richly deserves ... San Diego will miss him ... Stingers loaned him to the Mariners in 1974-75 ... In San Diego, he was the gung-ho Kevin Morrison's partner and had to be ultra-defensive-conscious ... Quiet and kind, popular among teammates, management and fans ... A WHA pioneer as a 22 year old ... Will probably line up beside rugged John Hughes.
