Regular Season & Playoff Scoring Record (key)

Almost always plays the man, politely but matter-of-factly removing him from the picture ... Stood tall on the Toros defense in his rookie year ... Considered the top graduating defenseman out of the OHA Junior Series in 1974 ... Spent three seasons with Peterborough ... Wears helmet.

More often than not, the Toronto Toros defense was a joke in 1975-76. The forwards were notorious for not rushing back to help out when their opponents were on attack, so the inexperienced Toro defensemen suffered.
Still, manager-coach Gilles Leger has only praise for Jim Turkiewicz, whom the team drafted as an 18-year-old in 1974.
"We feel Turkiewicz plays along the lines of a Pat Stapleton," says Leger. "He's very strong defensively but he hasn't come out of his shell offensively as quickly as we expected. But, believe me, we're not complaining." Not when Jim figured in 38 goals, either scoring himself or assisting.
