Excerpts from Pro Hockey, WHA 1975-76 (by Dan Proudfoot)
Cleveland Crusaders regard Russ Walker as a student. He's still learning the important aspects of the game, yet he scored 14 goals and, more significantly, he had an excellent defensive record in 1974-75.
The 22-year-old is entering his third year as a pro and this, according to manager Jack Vivian, is the time for him to blossom. "He has a tremendous shot, which the statistics don't reveal", says Vivian. "He's developing as a corner man, too, so if you put all this together with the attention he pays his defensive game, you understand the potential we saw when we drafted him."
